What do students think about the Veteran Story Project?
"It was cool because you could hear about things you learn in school from the perspective of someone who really lived it."
"It was really cool to learn about what some veterans did while they were in service--about all of the non-combat stuff like pranks and fun memories and not just memories of war and battle."
"We got to hear about an experience that we might never have for ourselves."
What do veterans think about the Veteran Story Project?
"I always deflected when people wanted to talk about my service. My most significant injury was a paper cut. But today, my service mattered."
"Sometimes it's hard not to get distracted by all the hard parts of military service. It felt really good to laugh and remember all the good times too."
"The kids all came with great questions and seemed to be really interested in what we had to say. They were really well prepared, and they were all good listeners."
"I can't wait for next year. And thank you for the donuts."
